An evening out with the Mayor of Harrow

On Saturday 15th October, Funeral Service Arrangers, Arta Cane and Alpa Palmer attended A Diwali fundraising evening at Harrow Leisure Centre hosted by The Worshipful the Mayor of Harrow Cllr Rekha Shah.

Arta and Alpa spent a cultural evening at Harrow Leisure Centre enjoying traditional food, dance and singing in aid of Parkinson Association and Harrow Bereavement, Cllr Rekha Shah’s chosen charities.

Arta and Alpa support Harrow Bereavement care in branch by placing the charities cards in all care packs which are handed to families whom entrust them with the funeral arrangements of their loved ones.

When grieving families see these cards they know that they can contact the charity and take the first steps toward the grieving process. Tina Hill, Business Manager for Sydney Hurry, Rayners Lane and J A Massey, trained with Harrow Bereavement and serves as an active listener.

Tina Hill, Business Manager

"Harrow bereavement services is supported mainly by donations, all of those who serve as listeners are volunteers who do not receive payment, their services are offered free of charge to bereaved families for as long as that particular family need support.

Revenue is generated by people's donations and events such as the Diwali evening held by the mayor, to whom the charity is very grateful."
