Dignity welcomes Treasury consultation on the funeral plan sector and CMA review into funeral and crematoria services

Dignity plc (Dignity or the Group), the UK's only listed provider of funeral related services, notes today’s announcements from the Treasury and the Competition and Markets Authority ("CMA") regarding potentially increased regulation of the funeral plan sector and the launch of a market study into the funeral and crematoria markets respectively.

As one of the UK's largest providers of funeral and crematoria services, Dignity has led calls for greater regulation of both at need and pre-paid funeral sectors while continuing to set the standard for what constitutes best practice in the industry. We look forward to working with the Treasury and the CMA in the months ahead to bring greater regulation and transparency to the funeral sector, whilst ensuring that customers get the best service and choice of pricing.

Mike McCollum, Chief Executive of Dignity commented:

"We are focused on delivering excellent service to our clients in whatever way suits their personal needs and welcome today’s announcements from the Treasury and CMA. As part of our support for these reviews, we expect to share the work we have already collated to support the calls for regulation we have been making for some time."
