Reviews for Francis Chappell & Sons Funeral Directors in Catford
When did it all start? Well for me it was from my initial contact with Caroline at the Hither Green office.
After numerous unsuccessful encounters with other funeral services, it was refreshing to engage in conversation with someone who despite not knowing anything about me was able to show empathy, understanding, and leadership into an arena that I knew nothing about. Caroline did all of this in one conversation and I felt confident that in my fragile state, I was in good hands and had identified the right company to support me and my 2 siblings through this difficult time. I put the phone down and said out loud to my siblings that if that conversation is an example of the service to follow, then we are in the right place. So said so done, and the process began with Caroline leading from the front but still managing to take on board my personal preferences. I later received a call from Nick, the Director of the funeral procession for the day who was equally professional, polite, and empathetic.
There were a number of touchpoints throughout the process and the quality and high standards were continuously maintained. I used that branch to help me to create my Order of service Programs, Funeral Notifications, and to organise the crematorium service, and at no point did I feel that my very specific requirements were too much to ask.
On the day, I knew exactly what to expect as Nick had briefed the family beforehand. He was meeting the family for the first time and yet we all felt that we had known him a lot longer. He was warm, engaging, reassuring, and in control. He executed his role in fine style, even managing to build up a rapport with the pole bearers in no time at all. My brothers who were understandably nervous made a point of commenting on the hands-on guidance and support provided by Nick and his team on the carrying techniques of mum's coffin into the church and then again at the crematorium. It didn't go unnoticed and was very much appreciated
It became clear that the pastor had not paid attention to the running order of the service and Nick who had familiarised himself with my wishes, came to the rescue to help me to keep the pastor on the right track after a few hiccups had occurred in the church. He kept an eye out throughout both services to ensure that I was satisfied with how things were running and that my mum had the perfect send-off that I had so painstakingly prepared.
If the Hither Green office is anything to go by, I have no reservations in recommending this organisation to anyone who is looking for a similar experience to one I've just had.
I stumbled across them by chance but if you are reading this review and it sounds like it's too good to be true, trust me when I say, I wouldn't have taken the time out to write this review if it wasn't
Thank you all so much for making my mother's homecoming ceremony one to remember for all the right reasons

The day went smoothly and it was a beautiful service. Everyone was respectful and the celebrant that Francis Chappell recommended was wonderful and really worked hard to understand my sisters character and gave a beautiful eulogy.
