After all, it will be a personal event that can be a sentimental tribute to your loved one's life.
Our Eltham funeral directors opened in 1905, and is the home of two quiet and comfortable chapels of rest. For peace, solitude and reflection, we welcome you to use these for spending time with your loved one before the day of the funeral.
Our founder, John Chappell, began trading as a cabinet marker in Deptford, 1840. Since then, four generations of the Chappell family have helped our funeral directors grow and flourish to be a trusted and renowned part of South East London.
We have old ledgers in our Eltham funeral home which you are welcome to see. They date back all the way to 1924, when the cost of a funeral was £14. Our branch has expanded over the years, once a single premises with a jeweller and solicitors on either side. We merged our building with the jewellers, so we have a lot more space for the comfort and convenience of families.
We are here for you, every step of the way. Please call us today on 020 8850 1039 at any hour.

Reviews for Francis Chappell & Sons Funeral Directors in Eltham
Their services from start to finish were excellent and despite losing our mum to Covid and knowing a covid funeral is different, although we weren’t able to see her again after leaving the hospital, (due to the coffin being sealed) we were able to go and sit with her coffin in Francis Chappells. We loved the fact that the undertakers on the day, carried her coffin (and we could too) rather than being pushed around on a trolley. Having a pre paid plan too takes all the stress out of planning the funeral when you are so upset. We would recommend Francis Chappells very highly for all the support especially on the actual day, so very respectful and caring. Sue Fuller
All involved acted in a compassionate and professional manner.
It was always going to be a hard day for us as a family, and the most important one since Mum passed away. The funeral director and the team ensured Mum had the celebration of her life she deserved.
Lee and his Team made a very sad occasion pass smoothly and was there to the very end when you need them most. I feel they went above and beyond what was expected of them
On behalf of the Lambert family please pass on our Gratitude well done
From first contact they were professional, sympathetic and caring.
The design of the order of service came out a treat and the team on the day were great.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Francis Chappell to anyone
The service was presented by Richard W. It was held with compassion, respect and a little humor.
The whole day was made as pleasant as it could have been. A big thank you to everyone.
