About our Carlton funeral home

We are Ken Gregory & Sons Funeral Directors. Located in Carlton, Nottingham, we are proud to serve our local community of Thornywood, and surrounding areas including Bakersfield, St Ann’s, Alexandra Park, Porchester and Gedling.

Our other funeral homes can also be found in Kirkby in Ashfield, Sutton in Ashfield and Mansfield, ensuring we can help the families of Nottinghamshire to the best of our abilities.

  • You don't have to make an appointment at our funeral homes. However, doing so will ensure that someone can be available to cater to your needs. When arranging a funeral, our Funeral Directors are happy to visit you in your own home, if required.


  • Third party funeral costs are additional charges which we will manage for you and attach to your single invoice. Get in touch with us to confirm costs and plan a funeral to fit your budget.


  • If you choose to arrange the funeral with us, you will be given the option of a complimentary Funeral Notice. We will set it up for you using the details discussed during the arrangements. All we need is an email address.


  • Dignity Funeral Plans let you pay for your funeral in advance and at today's price. It's a way of taking control of the unexpected, setting out the arrangements and limiting the costs by paying for the services included in the funeral plan upfront.

I couldn’t have wished for a better experience, two people who helped and supported me most was Anne at the Mansfield office and Justin on the day of the funeral, you should be able to celebrate two devoted members of staff, thank for all the follow up calls, I am glad that my funeral arrangements have been made with you.

I have sadly lost both parents in the last 5 months.
When my mother died in December 2020 we used Bagguley Bros. I have to admit that on that occasion we did have a few issues with clerical errors on the documents issued to ourselves. Although everything went well on the day of the actual funeral, we requested the return of my mothers ashes and it was almost 2 weeks before we received these, and I had to call and query where they were!
My father died on the 15 February 2021 so as we had had a few issues previously, we decided to use an other local company Ken Gregory & Sons. Their premises were closed due to covid, and they were operating out of Bagguley Bros site at Mansfield Rd Nottingham. I explained our previous experiences, and it was arranged that all matters would be dealt with by Claire Clay and the whole experience went very smoothly and we were extremely happy with the service we received on this occasion.

Our family would like to express our sincere thanks for the attention and support we received as you prepared for and carried out the service for our Mum. Although we dealt with several people on the phone they were all helpful and kind. Thank you to Claire, Lucy, Wendy and India. We would particularly like to extend additional thanks to Lucy who was very patient when finalising the funeral and Order of Service and was also very supportive during the visit to see Mum in the Chapel of Rest. We were very moved to see the care that had been taken to dress and prepare Mum.
We would also like to thank Matthew as he was the Director on the day, he was very dignified, discreet and kept us well informed. It felt very emotional for us as Matthew led the hearse down our street and gave an incredible sense of respect for Mum's final journey. The Piper who played on the day was wonderful and added to the sense of occasion for us. Nothing was too much trouble and you helped us to ensure that we had a funeral that was as fitting as it could be under current restrictions.
The webcast service was excellent and we now have a permanent memory of the day for a modest cost. We were able to share this with relatives and friends who were unable to attend due to Covid and to those families and friends in other countries.
We received a follow up wellbeing call to check how we were feeling after the funeral which was welcomed. Having a funeral plan took away much of the stress knowing things were taken care of and directed for us kindly and calmly.
We know that you are dealing professionally with many funerals but it was a special time for us and despite the limitations with coronavirus restrictions, you contributed to that in a big way.

All aspects of the funeral were discussed which was very useful and prompted several decisions. At no time though did I feel pressured to do one thing or another. The process was made very easy through the professionalism of the staff.
