It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Raghubir Berry MBE at the age of 94.
A beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Raghubir lived a life dedicated to serving both his community in Leicester and his country. A founding member of both the Geeta Bhavan and the Arya Samaj in Leicester, Raghubir was a pillar of the local Hindu community. He attended the Geeta Bhavan, a non-profit Hindu faith-based temple in the heart of Leicester, weekly and contributed enormously to keeping their services running and helping others in need. A dedicated member of the Leicester Charnwood Lions Club, he was recently honoured with a certificate of appreciation on 28th April 2023 for his outstanding service and commitment to the club's activities. His tireless efforts extended beyond the local community and were recognised with the honour of an MBE, bestowed upon him by Her Majesty the Queen. A keen sportsman throughout his life, Raghubir enjoyed tennis and field hockey. He was also a very good bridge player, achieving the title of County Champion. Never one to stay indoors, Raghubir loved his daily walks. He will be fondly remembered for his routine generosity, dedication to deliver and his unwavering commitment to making a difference.
Raghubir's legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. May he rest in peace.
