It is with great sadness that the family of Robert Ernest Dorrington announces his passing on September 3rd 2025 at the age of 85. 

Bob, as he was known to everyone, started and finished his work career as a postman. Originally in London and then he retired from the Ware Post Office in 2004. In between he worked as a motor mechanic in London and a machine fitter at Addis in Hertford. 

Bob was born in London and lived there until he was 37. He then became a longtime resident of Hertford, where he lived for 48 years. 

Bob used to be a keen fisherman. He spent many hours listening to talking books. Bob liked all animals, but definitely had a soft spot for cats. He enjoyed his holidays, especially those in Scotland, Cyprus and San Diego.

Bob is survived by Joyce, his wife of 62 years, his daughter Marion and his son Martin. Also by his son-in-law Stuart, grandson Christopher and his daughter-in-law Angie.

He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.
