Peter died peacefully in Derby on 3rd October 2026, aged 78.
Peter was born in London in 1947, the son of Frank and Florence and brother to Frank and Flora. He met Jane in the Territorial Army, and they went on to share nearly 50 happy years of marriage.
A Chartered Structural and Civil Engineer (CEng, FIStructE, MICE), Peter set up his own structural engineering consultancy in 1991 and ran it for over 30 years. He brought the same eye for detail to everything he did, at work and at home.
Peter loved history, and family days out often meant exploring a castle or battlefield. He enjoyed golf in his younger years, and he loved good food and a good holiday, especially in France with plenty of wine and cheese. He had a wonderfully dry sense of humour that never failed to raise a smile.
He was a much loved dad to Sarah and James and a very proud grandad to Charlie, Annabel, Ottilie, and Alden. Also a loved father in law to Lorraine and Simon and welcomed Maisie as another grandchild.
Nothing made him happier than a family party with plenty of wine flowing or playing board games with the family where he was the biggest cheat. He'll be greatly missed by all of us.
Some pictures of Peter's life can be found here.
If attending the funeral it was Peter's request to wear bright colours and avoid black please.
