James Charles McLaughlin, known by all as Jim, sadly passed away on 5th February 2026 after a short illness.
Jim was beloved husband to Sheila, father to Malcolm and Stuart, and grandpa to Wilber and Norah. He was born and brought up in Scotland, where he met Sheila. Together with their sons, they moved to England in 1977, living in the West Country and North Yorkshire, returning to Scotland for a few years and then settling in Norfolk. Jim loved to travel, especially in France and Spain, but he also loved the home life and was a keen gardener. He played amateur football as a younger man and retained a lifelong enthusiasm for Hibernian FC. Above all, he was a family man. Devoted, kind and generous, with a winning sense of humour, he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A service will be held in his memory at Earlham crematorium in Norwich on 23 February 2026. Please make any charitable donations to Norfolk and Norwich Hospitals Charity.
