Christopher Clement Staines sadly passed away at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital on February 6th 2026. Much-loved dad and grandad, he was a man of boundless energy and generous heart. Before retiring to Bungay in 1994, his years with the Metropolitan Police Service - from river duties on the Thames to frontline service during the miners' strikes and the Brixton riots - were marked by commitment and fairness. As an Inspector and community liaison police officer, he lead with steady autjhority and quiet humanity. In retirement, an active member of his community and proud rotarian, he gave his time freely - a familiar tin shaker, volunteer and human fruit machine, all for those in need.  A skilled chair caner, keen swimmer and cyclist, he never sat still for long. He loved travel, adventure, theatre and music, and brought warmth, mischief and a big presence wherever he went. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
