With great sadness we announce that John passed away on Tuesday 6th May aged 70 his courageous battle with cancer came to a peaceful close, surrounded by his loved ones.
Born on 30 December to Reginald and Lilian Fish in Southgate, London, John was the youngest of four children and the beloved little brother to his three sisters. From an early age he showed a knack for fixing, crafting and cooking—talents that served him well in a life filled with varied jobs and adventures.
Though he could turn his hand to almost anything, John found his true calling in hospitality. He thrived behind the bar, loved the hum of a busy pub, and delighted countless friends and patrons with food that was as generous as his spirit. His roast dinners and quick wit became local legend wherever he worked.
For the past 19 years John made his home in Wellingborough with his partner, Rose, and their devoted English bulldog, Betty. He was the proud father of one daughter and three step sons, and the doting grandad to four grandchildren who will forever remember his boisterous laugh, endless stories and secret recipes.
A family man to his core, John’s warmth, humour and kindness touched everyone he met. Whether sharing a pint, a plate or a well-timed joke, he made the ordinary feel special, and his absence will be felt deeply.
a celebration of his life will take place on the 30th may 10am at nene valley crematorium wellingbourgh. Wake to follow from 12pm at his former workplace The Hind Hotel Wellingbourgh.
May he rest in peace with his beloved trixie, his apron hung up and his heart forever with us.
