Sad news for those who don't already know.
Phyl died on Sunday evening, 6th September at The Lister Hospital, Stevenage. She had had blood cancer for quite a number of years, but lived a full and happy life until the available chemo treatments finally ran out a couple of months ago. After that she went into a gentle decline which turned into a gallop at the weekend. She had a very quick and peaceful death, with me holding her hand and with her close family at her bedside.
We have been together for 55 years, so I have lost a soulmate. But I'm relieved she went easily and had a "good death". She never made a drama out of her illness, and I'm amazed how she got on and enjoyed life with a constant smile on her face, even when confronted by increasing medical interventions. A fantastic lady and a wonderful wife!
Please come comfortably but reasonably formally dressed. Subdued colours would be preferred.
