It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Peter William Kirk, who died peacefully on 7th May 2026 at Frimley Park Hospital, aged 77 years.
Peter was a devoted and loving husband to Tessa, and a deeply cherished family man whose warmth, kindness, and unwavering support touched the lives of all who knew him. His presence brought comfort, laughter, and strength to his family, who will carry his memory in their hearts always.
A man of remarkable talent, Peter was a phenomenal musician with a lifelong passion for music. Whether playing, listening, or sharing his love of melody with others, music was at the very core of who he was. Peter was the founder and curator of the National Archive of Anglican Chant, his dedication to the preservation of the record of Anglican chant in worship is remarkable. His gift brought joy not only to himself but also to many around him, leaving behind a legacy of harmony and inspiration.
Peter will be remembered for his gentle spirit, his sense of humour, his dedication to those he loved, and the music that was never far from his heart.
"Where words fail, music speaks." – Hans Christian Andersen
He will be greatly missed by his beloved Tessa, his family, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
