Milica Petkovic, affectionately known as Mary, Mrs. P or Baba, passed away on May 8, 2026, at the age of 84. Born on March 12, 1942, in Knin, Croatia, she was the beloved daughter of Petar and Zorka Dragicevic. Milica came to the United Kingdom when she was 16 years old. She lived and married in Birmingham before settling in Leicester, where she raised four children—Nada, Boja, Nikola, and Petar—who were the center of her world.
She was an active member of the Serbian Orthodox community and Serbian Women’s Circle, reflecting her strong devotion of Serbian Orthodox faith, tradition and culture. She found immense joy in her family, cherishing time with her children and grandchildren—Doyle, Silas, Harrison, and Keaira.
Milica’s life was marked by love. She will be remembered for her huge heart, unwavering love of family and friends, genuine kindness and boundless generosity. To know her was to love her. Milica loved to laugh, she treasured the little things in life and found joy in simple pleasures, such as playing bingo, coffee mornings with friends, spending time in the garden, cooking traditional Serbian dishes and doing word searches. Her sense of humor, kindness, and fiercely protective nature made her a beloved mother, sister, and friend.
She leaves behind her daughters Nada and Boja, sons Nikola and Petar, sons-in-law Victor and Tony, daughter-in-law Elaina, and her sister Marija. Milica's legacy of love and kindness will live on in the hearts of those she touched. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
