Mary passed away on Saturday 9th March 2024, a date that will be deeply etched in the memory of her close family and those who knew her well. Over recent months she battled against the spread of breast cancer to extend her life but ultimately to no avail.
Mary was born and lived most of her life in Reading but spent periods overseas accompanying her husband in Canada, Japan, Thailand, Texas and Milan.
She married Philip in 1976, had two children, Ian (1979), Louise (1983). Her only grandchild was born in 2020 and brought great joy to her life.
She will be remembered as a thoughtful, caring person always making time to reach out to people.
In her professional life, she was a respected and approachable junior school teacher.
In family and personal life she was and perhaps still will be the “glue” that holds the family together. Her loss will be deeply felt.
One of her passionate interests in latter years was volunteering as a room guide at Grey’s Court (National Trust) . She carefully learnt and delved into the history of the property so that she was a well informed room guide. Getting things right was important to her in both professional and non professional life.
The void left by her passing will not be filled.
