It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Colin Edward Hurley on the 9th December 2025. He peacefully departed from this world at Foxleigh Grove nursing home.
Born on 6th February 1936, Colin lived in Maidenhead all his life and was educated at Maidenhead Grammar School. He worked as a civil engineer for British Rail for 40 years, with his biggest accomplishment being responsible for the rail track upgrade to accommodate the new High Speed Train.
Outside of work Colin was known for his sporting prowess. He played football for Maidenhead United, Wycombe Wanderers, Reading and the Armed Forces. He was a player and umpire at Maidenhead Hockey Club and a player, supporter, groundsman and Honorary Life Member at Littlewick Green Cricket Club. He also won many cups for swimming and diving and when not playing sport he was a keen gardener.
A loving father to Sandra and Adrian and proud grandfather to Lydia. He shared his life and love with his devoted wife Joy who he is now happily reunited with.
