John Henry Rumgay, aged 85, of Bedford passed away peacefully on 9th December, 2025 in Bedford Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Born on 2nd March, 1940 in Dublin, Ireland. John is predeceased by his parents John & Margaret. He was one of nine children - the late Greta, Bobby, Eilish, Joe, Reggie and Mary and is survived by Noel & Tom.
He was the devoted husband to the late Ada Rumgay (Stone) and loving father to Johnny (Louise), Debbie (Garry), Tich, Pete & Angie (Sean). Loving grandad of 12 and great-grandad of 10. Brother-in-law, Uncle, cousin and friend to many.
John was a hard worker and spent many years in construction in England and Saudi Arabia. He then worked as a Publican in 4 pubs in Bedford until his retirement.
He was a man of strength, integrity, kindness and generosity and left a lasting impact on all who knew him. His family find comfort in knowing that his legacy lives on through the lessons he taught them, the love he gave them and the memories they will cherish forever.
Funeral Mass to be held on Monday 29th December, 2025 at Holy Cross Church, Goldington Road, Bedford at 10:30am followed by burial at Norse Road Cemetary.
