Stuart sadly passed away at his home on Saturday, 10th January, aged 87 years.
Beloved husband of Marigold, loving father of Fiona, Clive and Rebecca, grandfather of Daniel, Eleanor, Petroc, Robert and Anna, and father-in-law of Caroline. He will be very sadly missed, but always in our hearts. Stuart was Professor of Atmospheric Chemistry in the School of Environmental Sciences at the University of East Anglia. When he came to the university in 1985, he had three main research objectives; these were to continue his work measuring chlorine and bromine containing substances that damage the ozone layer by purchasing a highly sensitive mass spectrometer, to set up an atmospheric observatory on the north Norfolk coast, and to create a UK capability to make airborne measurements of ozone and its precursors by installing instruments on a research aircraft. All these objectives he achieved.
The funeral service will take place at Earlham Crematorium on Monday, 16th February at 11.30 a.m.
Donations in lieu of flowers may be made as you leave the chapel or online. There will be a reception at the George Hotel in Norwich at approximately 12:30pm.
