We are very sad and heart broken to announce the death of Bernard Miles Whiting, who passed away at home on Sunday 10th May 2026. Bernard, and his wife, Marjorie, had recently returned from a lovely cruise holiday and this has come as a shock to all who knew him. Growing up in Ward End, Birmingham, Bernard loved his sport, particularly table tennis and cricket and did well at school until leaving to start work at Radiation and then British Gas, where he worked until retiring, only to then join Phoenix Gas in Belfast where he stayed for 18 months. Marrying Majorie in 1971, they moved to Worcester shortly afterwards, where Stuart (1973) and Adam (1976) were born. Bernard loved living in the countryside and, with his family at his side, they loved to Peats Farm where goats, chickens, sheep, among other animals, were raised and cared for. Bernard was fully involved in Freemasonry for over 50 years, moving from Kings Heath or St. John's Lodge in Kidderminster and he tirelessly worked for charitable causes. He enjoyed meeting his friends on a weekly basis, having a pint in the New Inn at Shrawley and another at Ombersley Golf Club (although on different days). He'd like to be remembered as a happy, smiling person, who always worked hard, did his very best and helped people out whenever he could. He loved his family and always cared for and looked after them. He will be sadly missed, both by family and friends. Whatever Bernard meant to you, please give him a thought and raise a smile.
