Malcolm James Dyson, aged 59, passed away suddenly at his home in London, UK, on Tuesday, 11th June 2024.
He leaves behind his long-term partner, Christine Mohrmann, and their adored children, Elle and Henry Dyson, who were the joy of his life. He is pre-deceased by his father, Malcolm (Mick) Dyson, and survived by his mother, Jan Dyson, and sisters Suzy Anderson, Melissa Budasz, and Emma Dyson.
Malcolm grew up in southeast London. He often spoke of being out all day riding his bike with friends and the memories of family caravan holidays in Europe. He fell in love with 80s music and amassed a huge vinyl collection - strobe lights and hairstyle too! He proudly graduated from Colfe’s and entered in the management scheme in Sainsbury’s before venturing into the carpet business where he had a very successful career owning his own companies. Malcolm took up golf at a later age and achieved a single figure handicap in a very short period of time.
Malcolm had a lifelong love affair with Arsenal. A fan since he was five and a multi-decade season ticket holder, he never dared to miss a home game, travelled to the Continent for matches, and always believed in their success. He celebrated the Invicibles, discussed his predictions and avidly listened to regular podcasts and sports radio. Eventually, he took Henry who, like his father, developed a knowledge of players and teams and a love of the Gunners.
Malcolm’s life was one of joy and simple pleasures; he was a kind and generous man, loved meeting people - asked them lots of questions - and was a loyal friend to all. Everyone seems to have a ‘Malcolm’ story!
Malcolm was above all a family man, looking after his mother as well as his extended family. Malcolm met Christine in August 2005 which was the beginning of their love story. Travelling abroad, playing golf, frequenting restaurants and laughing lots with friends and family - making the most out of life. In 2010, they were blessed with the early arrival of Elle and in 2013, Henry followed.
Christine and their children meant the world to him. They enjoyed holidays abroad especially in America, Chris’ birthplace, which became a home away from home. He was proud of his son who played football and golf like him. He also showered his ‘darling’ daughter with sushi take-away, art supplies and digital devices to keep her busy! Malcolm was romantic and always made a point to have a weekly date night with Chris where they both indulged in the pleasures of eating and drinking. Never did a year pass where Chris didn't receive flowers on Valentine’s Day from a secret admirer.
A service of thanksgiving for his life will be held at Our Lady of Victories Roman Catholic Church on Friday, 5th July at 10.00. The service will be livestreamed and will also be recorded.
Dress code is ‘colourful’ to reflect the smile and happiness of our blue-eyed friend.
Following the church service, a celebratory reception will be at The Orangery in Holland Park - the local park which Malcolm visited frequently with his family.
We deeply appreciate all expressions of love and support during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making a donation via JustGiving Malcolm Dyson. The monies will be transferred to a Trust for the benefit of Malcolm's children - Elle and Henry Dyson.
Lastly, as a tribute, the family would greatly appreciate it if could help create a lasting legacy of Malcolm on an online memorial website - videos, photos and any other images of things or times you remember he loved. To upload your memories please visit Memories.
