Glenn, husband, father, grandfather, in-law, mentor, supervisor, teacher, friend, you will be sorely missed and fondly remembered by us all.
Glenn lived with Parkinson's for the best part of two decades. We have therefore put Parkinson's UK as the charity for donations in lieu of flowers, however, Glenn also had a passionate interest in birds from childhood and they were the focus of his academic research at Birkbeck, University of London. We will also be contributing to the Wetlands and Wildfowl Trust but we can place only one charity link here. If you prefer to donate to the latter, this can be arranged by Patricia.
Glenn had many interests. He was a keen cricketer in his youth and continued to watch matches when he could no longer play. He enjoyed trainspotting as a young man in the days when the last steam trains could still be observed on our railways. He absolutely loved gardening and was passionate about many genres of music: classical, opera, jazz, rock, and he was himself an accomplished Northumbrian piper. He owned and played many musical instruments and in later years started composing pipe tunes when Parkinson's robbed him of the dexterity needed to play.
