Barbara Carbery (née Ferguson)

1940 – 2025

 

Barbara Carbery, née Ferguson, aged 85, passed away peacefully on 12th November 2025. Born in Blackburn to Minnie and George Ferguson, Barbara spent most of her life in Blackburn before later making her home in Rishton.

 

On 4th March 1961, she married the love of her life, Brian Carbery. Together they built a warm and loving family. Barbara is survived by her brother Michael Levine, much loved mother to Lynne Barnard, Paul Carbery and Rachel Carbery; and cherished as Grandma by Daniel Ahmed, George Carbery, Andrew Carbery and Oliver Carbery. She is reunited in peace with her beloved husband Brian and her daughter Helen Ahmed, who preceded her in death.

 

Barbara will be remembered for her gentle nature, her devotion to her family, and the joy she found in simple, meaningful moments. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, and her crocheting brought comfort and beauty to many. She also treasured her friendships, especially the hours spent crafting and chatting with her companions at Derwent Hall.

 

A cremation service will take place at Blackburn Crematorium at 11:15am on 10th December 2025. Family flowers only, please; donations in Barbara’s memory may be made to the British Heart Foundation.

 

Barbara’s warmth, kindness and quiet strength will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
