It breaks our hearts to share that Nick Pritty passed away on 12th November.
Nick was a victim of a car accident, which happened at the beginning of November, and he suffered significant injuries to his torso, but was recovering amazingly well in hospital. A week after his initial accident, he underwent a second surgery, to repair his ribcage, which necessitated a breathing tube. After this, there were complications which we aren't able to comment on while investigations and legal processes conclude, but Nick passed away three days later.
This is something which we never expected, and his friends and family are shocked beyond words. He was loved more than he ever realised and has left a space that can’t be filled.
We would very much like to celebrate and remember him with those he cared about, and would like to warmly welcome anyone who would like to pay their respects at the funeral, and wake. Details are below but we would ask that you let us know, so that we can plan for appropriate numbers. If you would like to share any memories or photos, they're very comforting to see. Nick was quite private, and so we are enjoying learning about the special friendships he had!
We would like to ask that for those who wish to, a donation is made in Nick's memory to one of the following charities, instead of sending flowers to the funeral, because the crematorium can't keep them beyond a couple of days, which feels like a waste;
Dog's Trust: https://www.justgiving.com/page/inmemoryofnickpritty
Nick was well known as a dog lover, and we often thought he was happier among dogs and animals than people! So if you're one of the chosen few he called a friend, this is high praise!
BHECCS: https://www.justgiving.com/page/inmemoryofnick
The 999 call from the initial car accident was routed to the Beds & Herts Emergency Critical Care Scheme (BHECCS) volunteer Critical Care Paramedics and Doctors, who saved Nick's life at the scene, delivering emergency procedures at the roadside, as well as significant blood transfusions. They are entirely funded on donations, and the skill of the volunteer surgeon who was able to attend would have been life saving, in other circumstances.
Thank you to everyone who has been part of his life.
