Jane and family are deeply saddened to announce the passing of dear Phil, on the 13th May2025, following a short respiratory illness, valiantly fought.

Phil was a much-loved, highly valued and loyal friend to so very many as well as a cherished and devoted husband to his beloved Jane (Calam), dear brother to John (and Mon) and Helen (and Christian) and fond Uncle and Godfather to David Andrew (and Becky, whose wedding he was delighted to be able to attend recently).

Phil was never happier than when he was fulfilling his entertaining talents in his leisure time with his many friends and various Drama Companies in the field of theatre and performance, a lifetime of varied singing and speaking roles - which is how he met Jane at the very start of this interest! Within his career he was a very witty, clever journalist, a Master Wordsmith, who could turn his skill to any subject whether this be Governmental, Military, raising awareness, as a Communications Volunteer, for The Children’s Trust, or writing theatre reviews, creating sketches, songs, Productions and his own Millennium Show! Throughout his journalistic career and theatrical achievements he won many well-deserved awards, as well as participating in numerous tv quiz shows which he enjoyed and invariably did well in! When relaxing at home Phil loved watching football with Jane, supporting especially his own Man United.

To celebrate Phil’s life, and the joy/gift of his presence in each of ours, we would like to invite you to his funeral Service to be held at 1.40pm on the 17th June, at Kingston Crematorium.

The Dress Code is: as you wish, to celebrate and reflect.

We also ask that instead of sending flowers you consider a donation to a cause very close to Phil’s heart, The Children’s Trust, Tadworth.

After the Service family and friends will be able to raise a glass to Phil at The Surbiton Club, 34, St. James' Road, Surbiton, KT6 4 QL.

If you have any favourite memories or kind words you would like to retell we would all love to hear them and you will also be able to share these in a special book of memories to be cherished in days to come.

Please RSVP (mobile: 07588424740) so we have an idea of how many people to expect on the day. There will be a webcast available for those who unfortunately cannot attend. Please let us know if you would like the link. Thank you.
