Mrs Brigid Kathleen Thursby-Pelham

9th January 1935 - 16th April 2025

No flowers please

To all our wonderful extended family and friends,

All five of us T-Ps are incredibly touched by your kind words of condolence and outpouring of love following mummy's death.  She was without a doubt dearly loved and touched so many people's lives - we have heard so many stories about what an inspiration she was to others and the kindness that she showed to people.

In accordance with her wishes (which as you know she was not shy to make known!), she is going back to her roots (which she was ever faithful to), and immediately following her funeral mass at Sacred Heart Church, she will make her final journey to Ireland where she will be buried with our father's ashes in her home town of Buncrana, County Donegal.  Given this, if you were intending to give flowers for the coffin/cemetery, we would prefer if you would instead make a donation to St Teresa's Home (a charity), where mummy not only received outstanding care, but above all was shown great love by all the amazing staff at St Teresa's in the final chapter of her life.

St Teresa's bank details are:

Account Name                St Teresa`s Home CIO
Account Number            87165678
Sort Code                        60-24-07

If you are undable to attend mummy's funeral but would like to participate remotely, the funeral will be live streamed and the link can be found here:

Thank you all so much again and we are really looking forward to seeing you all for a celebration of mummy's life on 15th May at Sacred Heart and for those in Ireland on 18th May.

Lots of love

Adelita, Brian, Anna, Cressetta and Fergus

This was mummy's favourite poem and she would still recite it by heart, even in recent times:

The Lake Isle of Inisfree

I will arise and go now, and go to Innisfree,
And a small cabin build there, of clay and wattles made;
Nine bean-rows will I have there, a hive for the honey-bee,
And live alone in the bee-loud glade.

And I shall have some peace there, for peace comes dropping slow,
Dropping from the veils of the morning to where the cricket sings;
There midnight’s all a glimmer, and noon a purple glow,
And evening full of the linnet’s wings.

I will arise and go now, for always night and day
I hear lake water lapping with low sounds by the shore;
While I stand on the roadway, or on the pavements grey,
I hear it in the deep heart’s core.

WB Yeats

As our Irish cousins will know, all nine of the Doherty Hutton siblings were singers and each had their own "signature" song. Mummy's song was The Spinning wheel which she sang with Frances only last year.
Here's a version of it:

May she and our father rest in peace, Amen.
