It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Ray Timberlake, who passed away peacefully on Wednesday 16th April 2025 in Willow Court Care Home, Harpenden. He was 77 years old.
Ray was born on 20th June in Elstree to Sandford Lyn and Dorothy. He was a loving husband to Lynda, a devoted father to Matthew, a cherished brother to Ian and Carol and best friend of Pete.
He will be known to many for his passion of motorcycles and a career of racing grasstrack, riding enduros and trials. He loved football, be it watching Watford or supporting his local village team Sandridge Rovers, accompanied by his partner in crime for many years, his dog Bailey. He had a passion for steam trains, the seaside, especially Swanage and right up there with his love of family and friends, was his love of real ale and a decent pint of beer!
Ray was a dedicated motor mechanic for many years and was known by many in St. Albans and the surrounding area. Ray will be fondly remembered by many for his generousity, wit and charm but perhaps not for his patience!
A funeral service will be held at Hemel Hempstead Crematorium on Friday 23rd May at 11.30am, followed by a celebration of life at Ray's favourite watering hole the John Bunyan Pub, Wheathampstead, from 1pm.
