Malcolm Burnell
1936 – 2026 | Aged 90
Malcolm passed away peacefully at Pinderfields Hospital on Sunday, 16th August 2026, aged 90. His family visited him every day during his final weeks and were so grateful to have celebrated his milestone 90th birthday with him on 25th July.
A talented electrical engineer and former owner of three electrical shops, Malcolm was a hardworking and quietly accomplished man.
Former husband of the late Sheila Mann of Ilkley, much-loved father to Lynda and Gerrard, father-in-law to Graham and Ahna, and proud grandfather to Robert, Alex, Rhiannon, James, Fiona, Charlie and Emma. He was also eagerly awaiting the arrival of his first great-granddaughter, affectionately known as Baby Bean, due in November to Rhiannon and her husband Luke.
Malcolm loved nothing more than hearing about his family’s lives, sharing stories and proudly talking about their achievements and successes.
Stoic, caring, self-deprecating and steadfastly loyal to those he held dear, Malcolm was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
A life well lived, a family well loved, and 90 years of memories that will remain with us always.
