Reginald Guy Boor died aged 97, in Willow Court Care Home on August 16th 2026. 
 
Reg was beloved husband to Joan, loving father to Heather and Holly, treasured grandfather to Harriet, Elizabeth, Giles, Georgina and Robert and playful great grandfather to Bobbie, Joseph, Alice, Maximilian, Frederick and Felix. He leaves behind many wonderful and loyal friends. Everyone who knew him felt his gentle kindness and generosity. 
 
Born in Manchester, Reg never lost his love of that great city and the mark it made on his identity. A clever mathematician, Reg had a long and successful career in the aerospace industry and in retirement as a skilled aeromodeller. In these two fields he was admired and loved by colleagues and friends here and in Europe. Reg came to live in Harpenden in 2021 so that he and Joan could be supported by family. 
 
Reg loved France and had several wonderful holidays there with family and with friends. He enjoyed walking in the French countryside as well as enjoying the style and culture of Paris. Walking became a shared love between Joan and Reg and several holidays were based around UK pathways or discovering cathedrals, monuments, family history and ancient barrows and stone circles. He was fascinated by history and read widely. 
 
Reg had many interests including art, listening to music, photography, playing boogie woogie piano, nurturing Bonsai, model making and researching his family tree. He was full of fun and energy and never lost touch with his own boyhood enthusiasms. A lifelong Guardian reader Reg was politically astute and a believer in peace and social justice.  
 
We had many family parties over the years to celebrate anniversaries and birthdays the most recent being Joan and Reg’s 75th wedding anniversary in September 2025. Reg was never happier than when he was celebrating his long marriage surrounded by family and friends. His relationship with Joan was the backbone of a varied and contented life. 
 
He will be greatly missed by us all and we thank you for remembering him.
