Mr Roger John Haygreen

16th April 1949 - 17th May 2026

No flowers please

Roger sadly passed away on 17th May 2026 due to numerus health issues which he coped well with for many years.
Roger and his wife Jane had lived in Warwick for 48 years until Jane sadly passed away from Motor Neurone Disease in 2022 and he continued to live here until his death..
They were both active members of Saltisford Church serving faithfully in many different capacities. Roger was a very  accomplished pianist and organist, having played the organ in his church since the age of eleven and obtained his Associate at The London College of Music at sixteen..
Roger also played for Spa Opera and Kenilworth Consort and after 15 years of serving as pianist for Village Voices he was forced to retire in 2025 due to ill health. Until very recently he was still singing with Omnium Gatherum, who will be singing as a tribute to him at his thanksgiving service.
Over the years he accompanied many who were taking their Music exams and mentored and encouraged up and coming musicians, especially within his church. He played for weddings, parties, funerals, took part in recitals and workshops, accompanied soloists and much more. All of this voluntarily. When not playing the piano or singing he was conducting.
Together with Jane Roger travelled extensively throughout his lifetime. To Europe, the United States , the Caribbean, Africa and Asia. He was disappointed that they never made it to Australia.
Roger was loved by so many people he came into contact with and during his time in hospital before he passed away he had numerous visitors, so much so that the medical and nursing staff expressed to his family that they had never known anyone have so many visitors and he must be a wonderful man. Even when really poorly Roger still had a smile for the nurses who tended to him so beautifully on Feldon Ward at Leamington Rehabilitation Hospital.
Roger and Jane were unable to have children of their own but he was a generous, loving  uncle to Becca, Cammi, Jeremy and Toby and a wonderful brother to Marion and Brother in Law to Everton, Paul, Peter and Helena..
Many who are now middle aged remember him as being a 'surrogate; uncle to them when they were younger and say they owe a lot to him and his wife Jane.
Roger was a kind and generous man much loved by so many people that he came into contact with and he will be greatly missed by his family, his many friends and neighbours and within the music community
His Christian Faith was the bedrock of his life and he died knowing that he would go to his eternal home.
