Remembering Margaret Rose Allen
Margaret passed away peacefully in the Royal Preston Hospital on the 16th of November 2025 aged 88 years.
The beloved wife of the late Osmund, devoted mum of Sandra and Christine, and loving mother-in-law of Dave.
Margaret was also the cherished Grandma of Matthew, Joel, Sophie and Lucy and an extra-special Great Grandma.
Margaret was born and raised in Church and attended school in the town, completing her education at Hyndburn Park Council school. On leaving school at the age of 15, Margaret worked in the finishing departments of Warburtons and Higham’s textile mills in the town. It was during this time that she met and married Osmund. They settled in Accrington where they brought up their family and made many good friends. Once her daughters were at school, Margaret began working as a welfare assistant, later becoming a catering assistant in a local school kitchen. After 20 years in this post she became the assistant cook in a factory, before taking early retirement due to ill health.
Margaret was a keen baker, as well as enjoying sewing, crochet and knitting, making garments for all the family.
She and Osmund enjoyed walks in the countryside and exploring new places together. Holidays abroad were spent visiting different countries, as well as enjoying the occasional cruise.
Margaret -and her sense of fun- will be sadly missed by her family, friends and neighbours.
