We sadly announce the passing of Eileen Crosbie aged 80 years on 18th March 2025.
Eileen died peacefully at home on Tuesday 18th March after a long illness. She is survived by daughters Anne and Sarah, son-in-law Nick, grandsons Joe, Callum, Daniel and John, and granddaughter Lizzie.
Despite deteriorating health, Eileen continued to enjoy time with family and friends: theatre and cinema trips, restaurants and holidays. In May 2024 she hosted a party to celebrate her 80th birthday, regaling guests with stories of how she met everyone present; there was even a little dance with her oxygen cylinder as a partner.
By Christmas 2024 Eileen was able to do less, but she continued to “do what I can, when I can, while I can”. She was looking forward to more theatre and cinema trips, a holiday with Sarah and Nick, and a family buffet celebrating Mother’s Day at home.
Eileen is remembered as a “lovely woman”, “a good and loyal friend”, “a hell of a woman…who organised and supported everyone like a sergeant major”. She will be missed very much by all who live and knew her.
Eileen’s funeral will be held at 1pm Tuesday 15th April 2024, service at Gedling Crematorium (NG4 4QH) followed by a private family burial at Tithe Green Burial Ground. Friends are invited to Bestwood Lodge Hotel (Bestwood Lodge Drive, Arnold, NG5 8HT what3words: kinks.apple.shelf) after the service where family members will join them to celebrate Eileen’s life.
