Trudi sadly passed away on Saturday 19th April 2025, aged 85.
Trudi was born and raised in Switzerland, came to England to learn English as part of her nursing qualification where she met the love of her life, Derek. Trudi and Derek were married for 62 wonderful years. She is survived by Derek, her 3 children, 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She was a dedicated and caring NHS nurse who worked for many years in hospital and nursing homes. She was an extremely kind and patient lady, who always put others before herself.
Trudi loved life to the full and captured this love for life, friends and her garden in the many poems that she wrote, as highlighted below:
Nature at its best
I sit here staring into space
Listening to music and as if out of place
A squirrel is hopping along the garden wall
Then up the tree without a fall
From tree to tree, into the distance disappearing
Until it's a tiny spot in the clearing
Back to the music, what a wonderful gift
Awakening the divinity within us, giving us a lift
Into happy content spheres
But no, I diverge, the clock is striking
Cutting eternity into the tiniest of slices
Time to water the garden
If not, the soil in my pots will harden
Have you ever watched a poppy close for the night?
For it is such a wonderful sight
First, the two side leaves come together as if in prayer
Then the other two follow to protect it from the cold night air
The wren is nesting in the small cracks in the old wall
Telling me she is here with her cheerful call
