My beloved green fingered artistic husband Don passed peacefully on Friday 19th December at home in my arms, finally at peace from the lifelong nightmares, he leaves behind a legacy of creativity, kindness and quiet generosity.
A lifelong lover of nature and art, Don was best known for the exquisite Japanese gardens he designed, built and tended with devotion. Among the carefully sculpted Bonsai, water features and golden Buddha’s he was at his best.
For more than 10 years his latest garden was open to visitors, raising thousands of pounds for charity, a reflection of both his generosity and the wish to give back.
A skilled painter, a man of many talents, Don also delighted the great-grandchildren with his gift for magic, performing small feats of wonder to much amazement.
Don achieved everything he wanted in life and more, served in the RAF, worked for Shell Oil and finally passing on his knowledge in a classroom. Don knew wonderful happiness as well as great sadness.
Don is survived by wife Ann, Daughters Donna and Jayne, Son in laws David and Barry, stepsons, grandchildren and great grandchildren and the rest of the family, all of whom will miss him greatly
There will be an unattended simple cremation, his ashes being buried in Cleveleys Lancs at a later date.
Donations if desired may be made to Ty Hafan in his memory.
