Howard was brought up in Brentwood and spent his married life in Loughton, Essex. A talented artist, he graduated from the Architectural Association and became a member of the RIBA in 1971, working on major building projects such as Kuala Lumpur Airport, Bluewater Shopping Centre and Birmingham Bull Ring. He was a loving and entertaining husband to Adrienne for 53 years and had many friends who will remember him for his kindness, sense of fun and quirky humour.
