Philip Buddle passed away peacefully on the 21st May 2024, aged 81. Husband to Jan for 34 years and father to three sons; Chris, Andy and Dan, who were all able to be with him in his final days.
Phil was well known and liked by all who met him. His friendly and laid back nature is often cited by many who got to know him over his 47 years working at Hillview Garage (Billingshurst), from his first day in September 1960 through to its closure in 2007. He later worked until retirement at PD Motors in Billingshurst.
Phil also had a keen interest in motor bikes and owned and rode them until almost 80 years old! He became involved with off-road motor cycle sport in the middle/late seventies, rode moto-cross for a short spell, then changed to trials and won many medals. Later, he also enjoyed sunset rides on his beloved Honda CB-250. In the same period, Phil started ballroom dancing and became quite competent, again winning medals across various categories. Both the dancing & trials continued into the middle 1980s.
In the late 1980s, Phil met Jan at ballroom dancing and they started dating. They married in September 1990 and had 3 boys over time and both became really proud of them as they all grew up and began to do well.
His family are incredibly proud of what he achieved in his life time, the respect held by many who met him and the memories they’ll hold of him as a loving husband and father.
We are holding a funeral service for Phil at Worthing Crematorium on Wednesday 12th June 2024 at 11.00am and would like to open this to those who hold a special place for Phil.
Phil has requested family flowers only, but donations in his memory may be given towards Cats Protection.
