Mike was born in Farnborough, south London, in 1957, the eldest child of George and Doreen Cremore and brother to Janet. He spent the first fifteen years in Orpington, Kent, growing up within a family who needed little excuse for a good old London knees-up with their friends and relations.
At age 15 Mike moved to Swindon where he met his childhood sweetheart and love of his life, Linda McFeat. Mike was immediately welcomed into the McFeat family, joining fun-filled family holidays in their tiny VW campervan to the south of France.
The couple were married in 1977 and had three children, Nancy, Becky, and Sam. He was a devoted, kind, and selfless husband and father, who always put others' needs before his own. As the children grew up, Mike and Lin were delighted that all their children found loving partners, Nancy with Paul (Giff), Becky with Jamie, and Sam with Georgia.
After leaving school at 17, Mike trained as a legal executive, working first in Swindon and then later in Eastbourne. He was admired and respected by colleagues and clients alike, and enjoyed a successful four-decade long career as a family lawyer.
Mike had many other passions besides work. As well as playing various different sports, he loved music of all kinds, from reggae and Motown to folk and classical, and was adept at discovering new music before anyone else. Mike sang as a baritone in a local choir and enjoyed many happy evenings singing and playing guitar with family and friends.
Mike shared Lin’s love for her home country of Scotland, where they spent many happy holidays, first with the children and then later as a couple, exploring the Highlands and islands, and playing golf in the Cairngorms.
It was this love of the north which prompted a move to Newcastle-upon-Tyne in 2014 when Mike was 57. They quickly settled into a city they knew and loved, and Mike spent a few years in the company of his daughter Becky, son-in-law Jamie and his cherished grandsons Reuben and Jasper. We know these few years before his vascular dementia took hold provided Mike with immense joy.
Mike passed away on the 21 August 2024, aged 67. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son and brother and will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him.
