Dr Ashis Kumar Banerjee
Local retired GP passed peacefully on 23rd May 2026 aged 89 years at Glasgow Royal Infirmary.
Much loved Father to Colin, Sukla and Robin, dear Grandfather to Monisha, Finn and Kerren, Great Grandfather to Ari.
Dr Banerjee was a long serving GP in Glasgow's East End, initially working from a tenement surgery on London Road in the late 60's, before it's amalgamation to what is now Bridgeton Health Centre. Alongside working at the GP practice, Dr Banerjee had a distinguished career as a long serving Casualty Surgeon with the former Strathclyde Police. He could also be found attending to patients in hospitals from the old Belvidere to Glasgow Royal and Gartnavel General.
He was a dedicated GP who truly cared about his patients health and welfare. He will be sorely missed by all.
