David Kirby, 87, passed away peacefully on March 24th, 2024, at Hope House Nursing Home. He had lived in Nutter Road Accrington for over 60 years.

Born on October 16th, 1936, in Lostock Hall, David lived a full and vibrant life until the onset of dementia in his final years.

As a boy, whilst at Norden High School, Rishton, David was a keen runner and footballer. He later served 2 years National Service in the Royal Engineers and was proud of his contribution.

David served his apprenticeship as an electrician at Altham Coke Works, then later worked as a planner for British Telecom in Blackburn.

He was a member of the Regnal League and a regular attendee at Cambridge St. Methodist Church for 50 years. 

David also volunteered as an observer for the Institute of Advanced Motorists.

David was husband to his devoted wife Anne, father to Gary and the late Martin, father-in-law to Mercedes, grandad to Nick and Leah, brother to Arnold and uncle to Susan and Kenneth.
