Our beloved and brave Vanessa sadly passed away on Tuesday 25th February 2025. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends, colleagues and all who knew her. It is a great comfort to her family that her legacy of music and a love for singing lives on not only in her family, but also the countless lives she touched through her long career of teaching and performing.
If you are able to join us to remember and celebrate her life the details are given in full below. Vanessa was well known for her love of bold colours and jewellery, and her family would be delighted if you wanted to join in by wearing a splash of something red on the day.
Throughout the last year, Macmillan Cancer Support provided immense practical and emotional support to Vanessa and her family. In lieu of flowers, and to help recognise the crucial work the charity does, the family ask for donations to Macmillan. Details given here, and available on the day.
They invite you to join them after the services to continue to celebrate and share memories of Vanessa at The Bolney Stage.

The Church of St Mary Magdalene in Bolney has some limited parking adjacent, accessed via Church Lane (off the A272, Cowfold Road) and shared with the School and Cricket Club. It is suggested that this car park is best-suited to those who are less mobile. Alternative on-street parking is available throughout the village, which can be found along "The Street" and "Bankside" (both also accessed from the A272, Cowfold Road) or at "Magdalene Rise" residential cul-de-sac (accessed from the old London Road, to the East of the Church). If approaching the Church from "The Street" or "Bankside" by foot, access is made up a set of steep stone steps to the Lych Gate; If approaching from "Magdalene Rise", access to the Church is via a footpath that connects with Church Lane.
