Evelyn Ida Sharman
March 15, 1923 – August 29, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Evelyn “Ida” Sharman, who left us peacefully after a short illness at home on August 29, 2025, at the age of 102.
Ida’s remarkable life spanned over a century, and she embraced every minute. She had a zest for living and adventure that inspired all who knew her.
She had such a vitality whether she was telling her amazing stories of her young life, singing and dancing to her favorite songs on her computer, visiting garden centres for hot chocolate and a scone and shopping for a new fashion trend.
She lived each day to the fullest. Her laughter, adventurous spirit, and kind heart left an indelible mark on all who crossed her path.
Evelyn’s strength, resilience and curiosity fueled her life. Whether it was traveling back and forth yearly to Canada, her love of riding Harley Davidsons, speeding cars down a racetrack or quietly writing journals, that was Ida.
She was predeceased by her husband Derek Sharman. She is survived by her daughter Susan Partridge (Jane Murray), sons Jeremy Brace (Joanne Stevenson) and Ashley Brees. Grandchildren Anthony Partridge, Joanna Partridge (David Spencer), Daniel and Adam Brace. Great grandchildren Arthur George Spencer and Madison Long (Canada). She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who were fortunate to know her.
A celebration of Evelyn’s life will be held on September 12th, at Great Glen Crematorium and followed by gathering at the Horse and Trumpet, Skittle Alley in Wigston. Black attire is not required, she always liked a colourful affair.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of choice in her memory.
Ida’s life reminds us all that it is not the years in our life, but the life in our years that truly matters.
May she rest in peace, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and a life well-lived.
