Wendy Jane Cherry (née Grant) died peacefully in Reading on 31 October, after a lengthy illness. She is survived by her sons Stuart (Alison) and Michael (Sarah); grandchildren Ella, Danielle, Lewis, Ethan, and Imogen; and husband Edward.
Wendy was born in Newbury, grew up in Canada, and returned to Reading at 20. She was a leader in the Scouting movement for many years and volunteered for several organisations. She retired from the IT department of Reading Bluecoat School in 2017. She loved to travel and reveled in the sunshine.
Wendy was a generous and gentle soul who will be missed by family and friends in the UK and abroad. A service of remembrance will be held at Reading Crematorium (Caversham) on 27 November at 3:15. Donations to Cancer Research UK.
