Crematorium wins environmental award

Dignity’s Wyre Forest Crematorium in Worcestershire was recently honoured at the Stourport Civic Society Awards.

The annual awards, now in their 20th year, encourage and recognise projects that contribute to quality of the environment in the town. Wyre Forest Crematorium & Cemetery opened in December 2011 and is a state-of-the-art facility set in 23 acres of superbly maintained grounds. The facility was designed by local architects, Howl Associates Ltd of Kidderminster.

Will Scott, President of the Civic Society described by the crematorium as “functional and beautiful” and in his presentation said that it was “a great example of how an inspirational new building can transform an area and provide a high level of comfort to the local families that used its services.”

Joy Edgington, manager of Wyre Forest Crematorium & Cemetery said: "My team and I count ourselves extremely lucky to work in such an uplifting and pleasant working environment. This award again solidifies Phil Howl's unique talent and Dignity's sound investment in the Wyre Forest area and we are proud to provide an outstanding service in an outstanding building."
