Jack Crawford
April 20th 1923 – January 1st 2025
It is with great sadness that the family of John (‘Jack’) Crawford announce his passing on 1st January 2025.
Jack was born in 1923. He was raised in Lucea, Jamaica, where he and his younger brother, enjoyed an idyllic childhood by the sea.
In 1944 he volunteered to join the R.A.F and was sent to R.A.F Hunmanby Moor, Filey for his initial training.
Jack returned to Jamaica after the war and in 1948 married his wife, Gloria.
Jack rejoined the R.A.F in 1955, where he eventually became a Chief Technician and was awarded a B.E.M. for his service to the R.A.F. He loved painting and used his artistic skills to paint landscapes, portraits and impressive backdrops for events in the Sergeant’s Mess at R.A.F Sealand.
After Gloria’s death in 1996, Jack continued to live in Chester, before moving to Shipley to live with his daughter, Heather.
He was a kind and loving Dad and Grandad who will be greatly missed by his 5 children, 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Jack’s Life will be celebrated at his funeral, which will take place on Friday 31 st January 2025 at 1.30pm.
