It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of our lovely Mum, Nan/Nannie, Great Nan and friend to many, Frances Mary Docherty, on 2 January 2026 at Chaseview Care Home. She was the heart of our family – a source of love, laughter, and strength whose presence made every day brighter.
Born in London, Mum lived a life full of kindness and generosity. She had a gift to make everyone feel welcome and loved, whether through her warm smile, her thoughtful words, or the countless cups of tea shared around her kitchen table – always accompanied by malted milk biscuits. She adored cats, reading and music, and enjoyed a glass of wine or a martini with lemonade. She also loved France and Greece (especially Skiathos), cherished family holidays, and was a fluent French speaker. Her sense of humour and gentle ways, along with her advice and guidance, will be remembered by everyone who knew her.
Her grandchildren – Natalie, Emma, and Nick – had endless fun and made special memories during their stays with Nan/Nannie and Grandad. These were moments filled with laughter and love that they will treasure forever.
She leaves behind her loving children, Steven, Martin, Simon and Sean, grandchildren Natalie, Emma, and Nick, and her friends, who will forever cherish the memories of her love and guidance. Mum taught us the true meaning of family and friendship, and her legacy will live on in the lives she touched. We will all share the memories we have of her and make sure she is known in future generations to come.
A celebration of Mum’s life will be held on Friday 30th January at 11.30am at Fradley Crematorium near Lichfield for close friends and family. For anyone who wants to honour her memory, we will also be holding a small wake at Fradley Arms in Fradley which is a short distance away from Fradley crematorium and has on-site parking.
In replacement of flowers, donations may be made to your local cat protection charity to symbolise mums love of cats, which she had many over her life, bringing her great joy. Her infectious personality and humour will be missed and forever remembered.
