Rita Spiers 1945-2024
We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Rita Spiers on October 3rd. Rita passed away peacefully at home at the end of a truly courageous battle with cancer. She was loved by all her family and friends and will be deeply missed.
Rita was a kind, generous, patient person who showed incredible courage and strength throughout her cancer journey. She had a passion for reading, puzzles and sewing and continued to be an active social member of Coventry Golf club. Rita maintained a positive attitude to life and refused to let her diagnosis prevent her from spending time with her beloved family and friends, her wry sense of humour brightened the lives of all who knew her.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday October 24th at 10.45am at Charter Chapel, Canley Crematorium, Coventry. We invite everyone who knew and loved Rita to join us in celebrating her remarkable life.
Rita always preferred plants and flowers to be in the garden instead of of vases, so the family would kindly ask that no floral tributes be sent to the crematorium. Instead, we would like to support the two organisations that so kindly looked after Rita. These are: MacMillan Cancer Support and The Myton Hospices.
The family's personal thanks to both organisations cannot be overstated.
We would respectfully ask that you wear something bright and cheerful to celebrate Rita's life - she disliked black in almost all clothing!
After the service, please join us at Coventry Golf Club.
The family have also received some requests for the service to be available on line for those who cant be with us on the day. So this has been made available. The following details should be used to join the service on line.
