Mrs Cathy Johnson

30th April 1968 - 4th January 2026

No flowers please

Catherine (Cathy) Johnson née Catherine Keìh-Sìn Wong Lane, sadly passed away on 4th January 2026 after her long battle with cancer. She remained strong and determined throughout and was with her family when she passed peacefully at the Royal Marsden, Sutton.

Born in Lisburn, Northern Ireland, the beloved daughter of Julie & Sydney and later growing up in Crosby, Liverpool with her brother Terry, she was a real creative force who loved art, music, tennis; winning at anything and everything! She was a violinist with the Merseyside Youth Orchestra before her studies at Kingston Polytechnic, where she graduated with a degree in music, a passion & talent that she passed onto her children, Dominic & Amelia, supported by her loving husband Andy.

Cathy first started work in a recording studio in Kingston Hill and then moved to Boosey & Hawkes where she was introduced to music royalties and continued in publishing royalties working for Christopher Little, The Marsh Agency and Peters Fraser & Dunlop (where she continued to work until towards the end of last year). At weekends, Cathy was a kindergarten music teacher at Colourstrings Music School in Kingston, where she enjoyed over 20 years of teaching toddlers to 6 year olds (including her own children) and she was thoroughly fulfilled seeing their development with many becoming professional musicians.

Cathy's passion for life remained with her throughout, including her love for socialising, music, cinema, Cantonese 'home' cooking, tennis, paddleboarding and long dog walks with Hendricks, friends and family.

Cathy will be sorely missed by her husband Andy, children Dominic and Amelia and her brother Terry.

We politely request that flowers are not sent; but we hope for donations to 3 charities which Cathy held dear: Cancer Research UK; The British Heart Foundation and The London Air Ambulance, of which the first two we are eternally grateful.

Although a very solemn occasion, this is first and foremost a celebration of Cathy’s life. Therefore, please feel free to join the family and wear colour (however flamboyant or muted, but no red!) in recognition of Cathy’s spirit and personality…
