Beatrice Frances Thallon was born (nee Basham) on December 4th, 1924. The eldest daughter of 7 children, she was the last remaining of her siblings. A teenager during WW2, she served in the Women's Auxiliary Royal Air Force. A party girl, she sang and danced her way through the 1940s, met Scottish musician - Ernest (Ernie) Thallon - and married in 1947. They had 5 children. She loved working, enjoying a career in administration including a position at the London College of Furniture, and continued until her last job on the checkouts at Tesco when she retired at 76. Betty and Ernie separated 10+ years ago. Needing more support, Betty moved in with Cheryl and Shaun in July 2020. Dad passed away in a Daventry care home in December 2020, aged 99. Betty enjoyed her later life with weekly bingo and a monthly village club. She took good care of herself and deserved a peaceful and graceful exit, dying quietly in her sleep on the evening of 8th December aged 101. Her secret to longevity? She said it was vitamins every morning and a glass of red wine each evening. A lifelong super-fan of Frank Sinatra, she absolutely did it her way!
