It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kathleen (“Kay”) Ann Kiggins after a short illness on 9 March 2026 at Chestnuts Home for the Elderly.

Kay was the sister of Madeleine (Keith) and the late Eileen (Roy), and a much-loved aunt to Christopher (Yasmin), Jeremy (Jamie-Lynn), Grant (Krista), Sandy (Bill), and Simon (Sandra). She was also a great-aunt to Ben (Kate), Alex (Chloe), Katie (Tom), Adam (Katrin) and the late Thomas, and a great-great-aunt to William, Samuel, Henry, and Lucas, all of whom she loved dearly.

Kay’s career as a Matron in the Queen Alexandra’s Royal Army Nursing Corps (QARANC) spanned three decades, with postings including Kuala Lumpur, Liphook, Gibraltar, Malta, Aden, Colombo, Hong Kong, Southampton, Wheatley, Hanover, Cyprus, Woolwich, Tidworth, Aldershot, Baghdad, Catterick, Fayed, and Singapore. Kay retired with the rank of Major, having declined promotion in order to remain in Woolwich to care for her beloved, ailing mother. Kay was awarded the Royal Red Cross (RRC), a prestigious British military decoration established in 1883 to reward exceptional services in military nursing.

Kay’s family is deeply grateful for the kind and compassionate care provided by the staff at Chestnuts, especially during the final moments of her life.

Kay’s funeral will take place on Monday, 13 April 2026 at 12:30 pm at the Church of Our Lady of Grace & St. Edward, 247 Chiswick High Road, Chiswick, W4 4PU, followed by interment at 1:45 pm.

For those unable to attend in person, a live stream will be available on YouTube: Our Lady of Grace & St Edward's Chiswick; via the link, 10 minutes before the start of the service.

For those wishing to make a donation in Kay’s memory, she requested that contributions be made to the Army Benevolent Fund.
