-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We are sad to announce the passing of a great mentor, colleague, friend, brother and father. Kevin McCarthy.

Kevin suffered from a long-term illness called Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF), which progressively affected his lung's ability to function. For the past year, he has been cared for at home, as his condition progressed. And on Sunday the 9th of June 2024, surrounded by friends and family, he finally came to rest at home with his mother and eldest son by his side. It cannot be overstated just how much we will miss him.

Kevin was a kind intelligent soul, having a prominent interest in computers, radios and the stars throughout his life. He was a pioneer in the realm of Computer-Aided Design, overseeing projects in every aspect of our lives. He has travelled the world, including to Brunei where he met his late wife Miewseng McCarthy. And together, raised their two boys, Luke & Jake McCarthy at their home in Surrey.

Over the last 16 months. It has been incredible to see the immense love from everyone around him. From friends, family and the community. It cannot be quantified the difference it made to his life and ours. For what was certainly a difficult time for him, was made a little bit brighter by the smallest of favours, messages and gestures. To everyone who looked out to him and us... Thank you.
- Luke & Jake

At Kevin's personal request, he asked for any donations in his absence to go towards Kent Air Ambulance. It was their intervention and timely actions, that allowed his late wife Miew to fulfil her known wishes to become an organ donor in such a circumstance. And in March 2023, her actions resulted in several life-saving procedures for families across the UK.

In addition you can find Action for Pulmonary Fibrosis, a charity supporting research and families dealing with IPF. As well as Princess Alice Hospice, who in Kevin's final months, played an immeasurable role in providing compassionate palliative care at home to ensure Kevin was as comfortable as he could be at home. And notably funding 3 months of carers to ensure he was well looked after.

A donation page for Kevin can be found here. There is no wrong charity or correct amount to give. Anything you give goes straight to the charity and funds their life-changing work that made such a positive difference to our lives.
