Mr Richard Peel

24th September 1961 - 11th August 2024

Family flowers only please

Mr Richard Peel of Low Moor, Bradford, sadly passed away at home on Sunday 11th August 2024, aged 62 years

Richard was born at home in Lightcliffe, Halifax on 24th September 1961. He was the second of three children to Gillian and the late Russell Peel; his elder sister is Susan and younger sister Anna.

He was brought up in Lightcliffe and attended Bailiff Bridge Junior & Infants School and then Hipperholme Grammar School.

After leaving school, he started work for the NHS and worked there until he took early retirement at 56 due to ill health . He was a Financial Analyst.

He was interested in all sports and played table tennis and darts but his main passion was always cricket.

From a very early age and following in his father Russell’s footsteps, he played in the junior and senior teams of Bankfoot Cricket Club with great success. He also played for the Yorkshire under 15s schoolboys team. Since his playing days he has been an active member of the Club , holding key positions in running the club. It is fair to say that the club was his life and he totally dedicated his time to its continuation which has been recognised many times over the years by the Bradford League.

Below is a tribute to him posted the day after he passed which gives a true reflection of his dedication and the esteem in which he was held in by the cricketing fraternity.
